| The Curacao Challenge is almost here. Starting Thursday May 17th until Sunday May 20th.
Unique, this year, is that the competitions will be held on three different locations. St. Jorisbay, Windsurfing Curacao and Zanzibar.
We hope that many windsurfers will register for this great competition. The organisation has worked very hard to make this event happen. Great prices, good food, good vibe, good wind etc...
During the competition days competitors will receive lunch and dinner. At the registration they will receive an event lycra, t-shirt and a goody bag full of surprises. There will be 4 different disciplines: Slalom Open: this discipline is for the experienced ocean windsurfer able to make a good planing jibe and easy waterstart. Categories: t/m 15, 16 + and Woman. Slalom Sport: this discipline is for the less experienced windsurfer. These slalom races will be held at St. Jorisbay (2 days) and Windsurfing Curacao (2 half days) and NOT at the the open ocean. To join this discipline you have to be able to make a jibe. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent this at Windsurfing Curacao by making a reservation at location or by sending an email. Equipment rental price for 4 days is Naf 180,- Slalom Sport categories:: t/m 13, 14 t/m 17 en 18+ Slalom Rookies: the rookie races are in the weekend, each day two hours. This discipline is especially for our young and beginner windsurfer. Kids born before the year 2000 can’t enter the rookie races, but they can register for the sports class. It’s not necessary to make reservations for equipment. Rookie race categories: t/m 8, t/m 10, t/m 12. Freestyle: freestyle is the super fun discipline, doing as many tricks as you can. If you want, you can enter both slalom and freestyle. The races slalom and freestyle will not be run at the same time. Especially for the beginning freestyler there is a separate group: de Newkids. Freestyle disciplines: t/m 13, 14+ en Newkids. Registration: the official registration for Curacao competitors is at Windsurfing Curacao Friday May 11th between 4pm and 6.30pm. Many have already registered online and paid by bank transfer. We also need them at the registration this Friday. Local kids classes during Curacao Challenge: from Thursday May 17th until Sunday May 20th the local kids classes are cancelled. We will refund the missed class. You will find the refund on the next invoice. Practice day St. Jorisbay Sunday May 13th: We would like to give all the kids the opportunity to practice at the St. Jorisbay, so we will be there on Sunday the 13th to rent out equipment. You can make a reservation by sending an email to crew@windsurfingcuracao.com Arvid and Janchi will bring the equipment to St. Jorisbay and they will mee you there. All the facts: Where: St. Jorisbay (head to Koraal Tabak, at the end of the road to Santa Catharina you get on a dirt road. Here you see a small house with ‘Curacao Challenge’ in graffiti. Follow this road all the way to the end. When you arrive at the bay, go right.
