So you think you can surf. Big deal. To win the title of Master of the Ocean you have to do better. The water sports triathlon of wave riding, the world's first event to combine surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing, will test wave riders again this year between February 22 and 28 in surf town of Cabarete, on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic.
Competitors will be judged in individual disciplines, but only the athlete who can ride waves three different ways will take home the title Master of the Ocean 2007. The event was created to test the water sports athlete's skill and versatility in a place famous for its blue skies, waves, good winds, and warm waters. Beach parties and bonfires accompany spectators and competitors throughout the week.
Last year's competitors included James Otis, Tony Garcia, and Luciano Gonzales. Check out the photos from 2006 on www.masteroftheocean.com
