Windsurfers Unite!!!

 

In the beginning of 2009, just before the Curacao Challenge, the windsurfing club Windfreaks was founded. The idea behind it is to promote windsurfing in general by organizing more competitions both local and international and at the same time increasing the skill level of our local windsurfers.

 

By becoming a member of this club you will receive all the benefits the organization has to offer like:

 

  • Free entry to local competitions organized by Windfreaks (this fee doesn’t include the Heineken Regatta Curacao and the Curacao Challenge competitions)
  • Receiving the Windfreaks newsletters.
  • All members will receive a personalized membership card with their achieved skill level printed on it.
  • The necessary correspondence, meetings and dealings with international windsurfing federations, the government and other organizations to receive subsidies and to be able to enter international competitions will be done by Windfreaks.
  • Members receive updated information about international events.
  • Help (non-financial) with organizing trips to for example the Aruba Hi-Winds, Cabarete Classic and other events.
  • As a club, it will be easier to find sponsors to finance windsurfing teams from Curacao.
  • Windfreaks will strive to have fun prices for the winners (or exceptional achievements) of their planned competitions.
  • Results of the events will be constantly updated and posted.
  • After each competition Windfreaks will have delicious snacks and cold drinks available for all competitors.
  • Windfreaks will strive to get more exposure for the windsurfing sport.

All members of Windfreaks will receive their own windsurfing skill level for which different competitions, events and membership fees will apply. We have level A, B and C according to the Windsurfing Curacao system.

 

In general this means that level A members should be able to make a good waterstart, level B members can easily surf upwind and are working on surfing in the footstraps and  harness and level C is for all beginners and the youngest kids.

How to become a member of Windfreaks?                    

 

You can become a member by filling in the registration form and disclaimer.

The membership fee can be transferred to the Windfreaks bank account at RBTT bank, account nr. : 10347283 The name of the account is Windfreaks Jan Sofat 6a (please mention the windsurfers name and skill level in the description), or it can be paid cash at the first event (only) at Windsurfing Curacao on Sunday September 13th 2009.       

           

Membership fee level A is ANG 150, - per year (Sept 2009 – June 2010) and can be paid in two installments of ANG 75,-.

Membership fee level B and C is ANG 40, - per year (Sept 2009 – June 2010).

For the non-members the entrance fee for the windsurfing competitions (outside of the Heineken Regatta and the Curacao Challenge)will be for A level : ANG 30,- per event and for level B/C ANG 20,- (this includes rental of equipment during the event).
